About us

Who is Kan Colo Credit Union?

Kan Colo Credit Union opened for business as a federally chartered credit union in the 1940’s. Our first deposits were unofficial as it was an effort by Oilfield workers to simply help a new employee re-locate to Great Bend, Kansas for a new job. It was later that they officially filed for a charter for the 66 Kan Colo Credit Union. In 1966, the name was changed to Kan Colo Credit Union and became a state chartered community credit union. It kept employees of Phillips Petroleum Company and Equinox Oil. It added Business, Industrial, Government and Agricultural Employees of Barton, Russell, Rush, Pawnee, Stafford, Rice and Ellsworth counties in Central Kansas.

Kan Colo was built on the credit union philosophy of “Not for Profit, Not for Charity, But for Service. It exists because people care about each other and are willing to pool their finances together as part of a caring community. People save money and lend it to other people. The empowerment of individuals is the life of Kan Colo Credit Union.
